Day 1 Victoria Falls
Arrive at Johannesburg International Airport for your flight to Victoria Falls Airport in Zimbabwe. Upon arrival you will be met by our representative for the transfer to Elephant Camp, 10 minutes’ drive away.
The Elephant Camp is built on a ridge between the Masuwe River and the Zambezi gorges, thereby offering its guests an uninterrupted view of the Victoria Falls rainforest spray. The town of Victoria Falls is only twenty minutes away, giving guests the closeness of all that Victoria Falls has to offer, yet offering you an African wilderness experience.
Day 2 Victoria Falls
Complimentary activities included in your stay:
Morning or Afternoon Game drives in the Zambezi National Park
Morning or Afternoon River Safaris
Guided Walking Safaris
Lunch at the Lookout Cafe - Including drinks
Guided Tour of the Falls – Zimbabwe (Excluding Rainforest Entry Fees)
You will also get the chance to meet the Elephants: the Wild Horizons Elephant Sanctuary and Orphanage offers eco-conscious travellers an authentic and positive elephant encounter. “Meet the Elephant” will give guests the opportunity to unobtrusively interact with some of the biggest personalities in Africa, in a pristine environment overflowing with raw natural beauty.
Guests enjoy a short transfer to a scenic spot on the concession overlooking the Gorge and surrounding bush-land. Here you will be spoilt with a choice of a selection of wines, beverages and tasty canapés. You will be transferred to a rural village where they will see local villagers going about their daily tasks and interact with them. The tour enables them to see rural Zimbabwean life first hand.
Day 3 Selinda Reserve
Today you will be driven across the border, into Botswana, and onward to Kasane Airport, where you will meet your pilot who will take you, by light aircraft, to Zarafa Camp, 55 minutes away, across the Chobe National Park.
Situated within Botswana's private 1,350 km2 Selinda Reserve, the top-notch Zarafa Camp (formerly called Zibadianja) occupies a scenic position on an ancient, slightly raised earth bank, beside the lagoons and floodplains, which stem from the Zibadianja Lagoon. It is one of Botswana's most exclusive, most beautiful and most costly camps.
In front of the Camp, both east and northwards, you will find reedbeds and waterways alongside the permanent Zibalianja Lagoon, and beyond these are tracts of savannah, where most activities are conducted. Compared to other regions of Botswana, this is an open environment where wildlife can easily be spotted at a distance. Behind the camp, to the south and east, is a fairly solid belt of mopane woodlands, where the wildlife is usually of much less interest during the dry season.
Days 4 and 5 Selinda Reserve
Activities include day and night drives conducted in custom-built Land Cruisers, with individual bucket seats and a removable canvas roof. A private vehicle and guide can be pre-booked at an additional cost, though groups of four or more automatically get their own private vehicle at no extra charge. Short or full-morning walks led by an armed guide can be arranged, as can catch-and-release fishing trips using spinners or bait (not during January or February).
Though seasonal, wildlife viewing on the Selinda Reserve is particularly good during the dry months from June to around late October/early November, although it is really a year-round safari destination. With the wet and dry habitats many mammal and bird species are attracted to the area. Birding specials include slaty and black egrets, and coppery-tailed coucals.
There are two packs of wild dogs in the area: the Selinda Pack, consisting of 14 dogs, and the Explorers Pack. The reserve has resident lion and leopard, with, Cape buffalo migrating into the area. During June–July the zebra migration from the Savute and Chobe area can bring up to a thousand zebra into the reserve, and guests can expect huge herds of elephant in the winter season (between about November and April).
Another highlight at Zarafa is cruising the lagoon aboard the large pontoon boat, which is furnished with couches, a dining table and chairs.
Day 6 Okavango Delta
Today you will be air chartered to Duba Plains Camp in the Okavango Delta. Duba Plains Camp lies in the heart of the Okavango Delta. Here you will find a matrix of palm-dotted islands, flood plains and woodland. 77,000 Acres of private reserve, typical of the region’s unique landscape.
All the rooms are raised on recycled railway sleeper decking and offer guests amazing views of the surrounding floodplain and the steady stream of wildlife parading past. Each tent has a lounge area, with place to write and do your photographic downloads, as well as the opportunity for private dining in your tent. Each guest tent offers a private verandah plus beautifully appointed en-suite facilities consisting of flush loo, double vanities and indoor and outdoor showers and luxurious baths. Ceiling fans, an environmentally friendly air-conditioning system over the guests’ bed, and careful tent design maintain a comfortable climate for rest and relaxation. Guests also have their own private plunge pools and outdoor under cover sala/day rest area. The whole theme evokes that of old classic African safari style of the 1920’s. It is a wildlife connoisseur’s getaway with literally thousands of animals in an almost endless pattern across the flood plains.
Days 7 and 8 Okavango Delta
Duba Plains offers an extraordinary wildlife experience with intimate and up close exposure to the best of the best wildlife, from lions and leopards to elephants and buffalo and everything in between. Duba Plains is also known for interesting Kalahari species like Aardwolf and Pangolins.
Early morning and late afternoon/early evening game drives in an open 4×4 vehicles and boat-based activities when water levels permit.
Duba offers the perfect all-round Okavango wildlife experience - summer, winter, spring and autumn. Bird watching is superb and the wildlife concentrations on the open plains, along the waterways and in the denser forests are a highlight. Duba is one of the best areas for elephant while large herds of red lechwe are commonly spotted, along with hippo, crocodile, kudu, impala, mongoose, warthog and even leopard. But the area is most famous for its lions and the area's huge herds of buffalo. One herd at times aggregates to over a thousand animals. The open plains and their nutritious grasses combined with clean clear waters are the perfect home for large numbers of buffalo - and the buffalo are followed by lions in extraordinary concentrations and in all combinations of ages and sexes - from young playful cubs to old, wise parents, aunts and uncles.
A perfect stay at Duba is three or even four nights, giving guests enough time to study and learn about the different prides of lion, their individuals in those prides as well as the interactions with the buffalo and their hunting patterns as well as to enjoy the area and its scenery to the fullest.
Day 9 Khwai Private Reserve
Today you will take a charter flight to Tuludi Camp, set in the extensive Khwai Private Reserve, some 200,000 hectares of pristine wilderness. The diverse landscape includes floodplains, which stretch as far as the eye can see, and there are the waterways which border the Okavango. In addition, there are extensive forests. All of this makes for beautiful scenery and exceptional game viewing. This includes great herds of elephant and buffalo. Whilst the Khwai River is the main water source in the area, the smaller waterways mean that there is also no shortage of zebra, giraffe, antelope and other plains game.
Accommodation is in 7 tree-house style rooms, set under shady leadwood trees. The rooms (60 square metres in extent) all have high, pitched canvas roofs in the bedroom area, thus making a light and airy space. The tree houses all boast separate dressing and sleeping areas, an en suite bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers, and bathtubs. In addition you also have a sunken seating area and a private plunge pool on the outside veranda (a further 44 square metres of space), both of which overlook the floodplains.
Day 10 Khwai Private Reserve
Activities make no day the same at Tuludi Camp - with game drives, walking safaris and water-based game viewing on offer, guests get to discover the best of the Delta.
Guests can expect prides of lion, there is also a good leopard population. Out on the plains you have the chance to see cheetah and wild dogs.
Tuludi itself is located in the southern reaches of the reserve, allowing for a more remote safari experience.
Day 11 Maun
Today you will be chartered to Maun Airport (30 minutes), in time to check in for your flight back to Johannesburg International Airport.
