Khwai Bush Camp

Khwai Bush Camp is in a private community-run concession on the eastern border of Moremi Game Reserve. The Khwai River itself forms a boundary between the Reserve and the community area. The River is also a unique water source in the area, thus a great attraction for wildlife, on a year-round basis.

Accommodation at Khwai Bush Camp is in classic thatched chalets, furnished with comfortable beds and private en-suite bathrooms, complete with flushing toilets and hot-water bucket showers. This is a small Camp, with 4 standard chalets and 2 family chalets. 

The central Camp area houses the lounge, bar, extensive deck and firepit. Views are enjoyed across the savanna and floodplain.  Khwai Bush Camp is kept shaded by the large leadwood and sycamore figs for which the area is well known.

Thus the camp enjoys a different habitat from the western section of Moremi Game Reserve, as along with the substantial Leadwood and Mopane woodlands, there is a close proximity to open grasslands and the Khwai River, making for a diverse area to explore.

As you are in a private concession there is the added excitement of being able to enjoy night drives and walking activities (which are not permitted in the National Parks). Exploring after dark with a spotlights gives you the chance to get to know the night-life, especially as a number of species are nocturnally active.

There is the added opportunity to explore the surrounding wilderness on foot and enjoy a close encounter with flora and fauna.

You also get to explore on the morning and afternoon game drives, which include trips into the Moremi Game Reserve itself.

Mokoro trips can be organised by prior arrangement (but are subject to the seasonal water level fluctuations). Wildlife that you may get to see includes lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, as well as a good number of other species including elephant, buffalo, zebra, hippo and giraffe.
