Leroo La Tau is built on 10 metre high cliffs, which overlook a changing Boteti Riverbed. Such a position allows for some arresting views, including that of the neighbouring Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, to the east.
Accommodation in this Botswana Lodge is in 12 beautifully appointed thatched en suite chalets, which are glass fronted. The chalets are set on raised platforms overlooking the seasonal River. The main lodge building at Leroo la Tau is home to the dining room, reading room and bar. In addition, there are expansive wooden desks, which is also where plunge pool can be found. You can also enjoy the use of a raised hide above the River where there are some spectacular wildlife sightings. Game activities offered at this Botswana Lodge include both guided day and night drives. When the water levels of the Boteti River allow, boat activities are also on offer. You might also wish to visit the local village of Khumaga. In addition, guided nature walks in the area surrounding the lodge can also be arranged. After the start of the rainy season (generally November to March), this desert area is changed into a meeting place for thousands of zebra and wildebeest, closely followed by a number of predators. It is also during this season that there is an influx of migratory birds, while resident desert species compete by showing off their breeding plumage Leroo La Tau also boasts Chobe bushbuck, leopard, cheetah, brown and spotted hyena, impala, kudu, jackal, porcupine, genet and caracal, to name but a few. In addition, there is also the possibility of seeing the rare white rhinoceros. |
