How to Book Botswana Campsites
Having problems booking Campsites in Botswana?
We know that Botswana is a very popular self-drive destination (with good reason), and although you can choose to stay at a number of Lodges, a very popular (and more cost-effective) option is to camp. The National Parks and Reserves offer a number of sites in select areas.
BUT - although both Parks and Reserves (*) are controlled and run by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP), the actual campsites have been offered to private companies/ organisations to maintain and run.
Therefore, you now need to contact different organisations in order to make your bookings (always pre-book, as there are limited numbers allowed in each area). The different companies run the campsites in difference Parks/ Reserves - if you have an extensive itinerary, you may need to contact several different companies.
As we do NOT assist with the actual Campsite bookings, we thought it might be useful for you to have some information! Please see our downloadable documents:
1: For a list of who to book through, the GPS co-ordinates of campsites (where available) and the rates (Botswana Public Campsite Information). In general, responses are quick and efficient.
2: We have also included a downloadable document for the latest Park Entrance Fees (DWNP Fees). These rates do NOT change on an annual basis, and tend to be in place for extended periods of time.
The attached lists are as up to date as we can make it…….and hope they prove useful!
Enjoy your Camping holiday in Botswana!
(*) National Parks, such as Chobe, Nxai Pan and Makgadikgadi are gazetted by the Government as such, and
therefore the land itself is not in private hands; whilst Game Reserves, although run by the same department
(in Botswana), are open to the possibility of changes in terms of usage; tend to be ‘privately’ owned, and can
also include game management areas and private concessions.
