Shinde Camp

Shinde Camp is located in a private concession in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, on the edge of the Shinde Lagoon.

With an impressive dining room and lounge under canvas, the atmosphere is one of traditional safari elegance.  A small swimming pool offers a welcome escape during the warm summer months.

Shinde has eight classic safari tents, all en-suite and serviced with electricity and private viewing decks.  Each tent offers a splendid view across the Okavango waterways or the open grasslands. 

Shinde offers an array of activities, both land and water based, and all year round.  Motorboats and Mekoro enable guests to explore the incredible bird, plant and reptile species found in the aquatic habitat of the Okavango Delta.  Game drives are conducted in comfortable, specially designed game drive vehicles. Guided walks are also available whilst fly (fly or spin) fishing enthusiasts will enjoy fishing for a variety of species such as tilapia and tigerfish.

The permanent waters of the Delta at Shinde Camp allow for year round water activities whilst the dry habitats allow for year round game drives.  The camp also offers exclusive motor boat access to the Gadikwe Heronry.

The lush island setting of Shinde attracts many different species of antelope, including the shy sitatunga, whose elongated and splayed hooves enable it to walk across the unstable, reed beds.  Shinde is one of the best places in the Delta to spot this elusive mammal.   Lion, hyena, elephant, giraffe and hippo, as well as leopard and wild dog, are found in the area, and birding enthusiasts are likely to be rewarded by the seasonal breeding colonies of herons, egrets, pelicans and storks.
