Chobe Savanna Lodge is a sister Lodge to Chobe Game Lodge, yet offers a completely different experience, and is located on the Namibian side of the Chobe River, and slightly upstream. The Lodge lies on an expanse of vast floodplains and savannah. It is set on the Eastern Caprivi (Zambezi Region) of Namibia, on a peninsula on the northern bank of the Chobe River and overlooks the Chobe National Park's Puku Flats (named for the rare antelope of that name). Access is via boat transfer from Kasane Immigration.
A private and secluded safari experience is guaranteed as Chobe Savanna Lodge as it accommodates only twenty six guests. There are 10 twin chalets, 2 family units and 1 family room. Accommodation is in beautifully furnished thatched chalets, each with a private deck, an integrated bedroom and lounge area and en-suite facilities. Each chalet is air-conditioned, has a ceiling fan, mini bar, tea/ coffee facilities and a complimentary mini bar. The focal point of the lodge is a thatched, open-sided main building that features a 270 degree view over the Chobe River and beyond to the Chobe National Park. The grounds are extensive and attractive and also house a secluded swimming pool. In addition to the scheduled game-viewing activities, Chobe Savanna Lodge is also a perfect venue for guests to simply take time out to watch the natural world go by. Activities include river excursions in small, easily manoeuvrable boats which are ideal for close encounters with wildlife (elephant, crocodile). The area is known for its diverse and prolific wildlife. It is home to large herds of elephant and buffalo and also large pods of hippo. Concentrations of other wildlife, including giraffe, sable, wild dog, lion and other predators, that come down to the river’s edge to drink are common sightings. Fishing is also a popular pastime, and the lodge has a strict catch-and-release policy. Fishing trips for Bream or Tiger Fish are a firm favourite with guests of all ages. In addition, Chobe Savanna offers guide game walks, and sunset cruises. The Lodge also enjoys an active community-engagement programme, and organised tours of the participating schools and villages in the area offer a grassroots take on sustainable tourism and conservation. The emphasis at Chobe Savanna Lodge is on relaxation - activities are leisurely, and superb game viewing is available from your private deck or you armchair in the terrace bar. Game drives into the Chobe National Park are an optional extra. |
