Xugana Island Lodge

 The Xugana Lagoon is widely recognised as the most spectacular permanent water site in the entire Okavango Delta, which itself is Africa’s largest and most awe-inspiring oasis.

The Okavango River rises in the highlands of Angola yet never reaches the sea; instead its immense waters empty over the sands of the Kalahari. Xugana Island Lodge is situated on a private concession, overlooking the Moremi Game Reserve. Xugana Lagoon is arguably one of the most spectacular permanent water sites in the entire Okavango.
Weave through the channels and winding waterways by motorboat before reaching the spectacular Xugana Lagoon—a vast, lily-dotted expanse framed by papyrus reeds.

Accommodation is for just 22 guests and each tent draws inspiration from the lagoon’s blue hues and natural textiles, and views are both expansive and immersive, thanks to unique enclosed decks that create an indoor-outdoor experience. All tents are generously spaced and are set within the island’s lush greenery.

Xugana’ s main area is an open-sided thatched building, housing the lounge, bar and dining area - all of which are set back under the ebony and African Mangosteen tree canopy. The lagoon and its wildlife are central, and views are on full display from the pool and bar to the multi-level dining, lounge and viewing decks that comprise the main areas.
You can cool-off in the Xugana Island Lodge's swimming pool, located within the mature gardens in the centre of the island - a perfect place to relax.

Xugana Island Lodge’s sense of wonder meets adventure with activities that include motorboat safaris, catch-and-release fishing (tiger and bream) with supplied gear, mokoro (traditional canoe) excursions, guided walking safaris, and world-class bird-watching.

Scenic helicopter flights over the Okavango Delta are available at an additional charge. This doors-off experience is fantastic for avid photographers and those keen to witness one of Botswana’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites as the birds do—from above!
