Situated in the 320,000 acre Selinda Reserve, on the eastern side of the Reserve, Zarafa Camp embodies exclusivity and safari perfection. This is supreme wildlife country! Zarafa Camp sits on an island in the floodplains of the southern shores of the Zibadianja Lagoon, which is the source of the Savute Channel.
The camp’s four huge tented suites are raised up on wooden decking and shaded by a canopy of African ebony and Red ivory trees, each with uninterrupted views. Until relatively recently named Zibalianja Camp, the camp was transformed and moved in 2008, and then renamed Zarafa, which means the beloved one, or the lovely one, in Arabic. The Selinda Reserve is centred on the famous Selinda Spillway, which weaves its way east, linking the outer reaches of the Okavango Delta to the Linyanti water systems. The Selinda Reserve is upstream from the Savuti Channel and the Chobe River. It is without doubt, a truly spectacular and unique landscape, and should be included in any itinerary to northern Botswana. Wildlife outings offer a tremendous diversity of species, from resident prides of lion to huge herds of elephant and packs of wild dog. It is also home to the ungulates, from the rare roan to the ubiquitous zebra. Nocturnal wildlife is prolific as well, and there are frequent sightings of aardwolf and civet. Exploration by foot, 4x4 open game drive vehicle, and pontoon boat will offer you unforgettable sightings. Activities include early morning and late afternoon/early evening 4x4 open vehicle game drives, guided wildlife bush walks, and boating on Zibadianja Lagoon when water levels permit, open air gym, in-room massages. |
