Day 1 Johannesburg/ Victoria Falls
From Johannesburg International Airport, you fly to Victoria Falls Airport in Zimbabwe, where you will be met by our representative for the transfer to the Victoria Falls Hotel, just 20 minutes' drive away.
The Victoria Falls Hotel exudes its colonial heritage, offering excellent service, and a magnificent view of the Victoria Falls Bridge into Zambia, with the spray from the Falls ever present. Popularly known as the grand old lady of the Falls, the hotel is situated in the Victoria Falls National Park, a world heritage site, and is a member of the exclusive Leading Hotels of the World group. It is one of only two 1S0-accredited hotels in Zimbabwe.
The Edwardian-style five-star hotel, built in 1904, was recently redecorated and refurbished and now combines the charm of the old with the convenience of the new. Set in lush tropical gardens with lily ponds, palm trees and semi-tropical shrubs, it provides the tranquillity and seclusion that many guests seek. The famous Victoria Falls are just a ten-minute walk away using the hotels private pathway, and the smoke that thunders or Mosi-O-Tunya in the local dialect, is clearly audible and visible from this luxurious landmark.
Day 2 Victoria Falls
Today you may want to view the famous Falls which are a short walk from the Hotel - entry fees are US$30 per person, payable directly.
There are many activities on offer in Victoria Falls, some of which are:
Elephant Interactions; Craft Markets; White water rafting; Bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls Bridge;
Zip line; Gorge swing; Abseil and Rapp-jumping; Flying Fox; Canoeing; Helicopter flights over the Falls;
Train tours; Cultural tours; Fishing trips; Horseback riding; Sunset cruises
Day 3 Okavango Delta
After breakfast, our representative will collect you from the Hotel, and he will drive you across the border, into Botswana, and onward to Kasane Airport (60 minutes) in time to meet the pilot who will charter you, in a light aircraft, into Splash Camp, 70 minutes away, across the Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta.
Splash Camp is situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta, within the Private Kwara Reserve. This brand new camp offers a very relaxed, friendly and authentic atmosphere.
Days 4 and 5 Okavango Delta
Due to the specific location of the camp, Splash is able to offer power boating, mokoro (dugout canoe) trips, walks and game drives all year round. In addition Splash is in a large private concession enabling the game drives to operate both off road and at night. The presence of permanent water ensures year round game viewing and also allows mokoro trips in shallow water throughout the year. Splash has a double-deck pontoon boat which allows guests to get very close to birds and animals for up-close photography and game viewing. Well-trained, armed guides will also conduct game walks through the islands of the Delta and transfer their knowledge to their guests.
The area is home to an astounding array of animal and bird life, including Lion, Hyena, Leopard, Cheetah and Wild Dog. There are good populations of Elephant, Buffalo and Zebra and over 300 species of birds. Antelope species are prolific with good populations of the rare sable antelope. Trips to the wondrous Godikwe Lagoon - one of the largest breeding colonies on Botswana, are an absolute must. In season (from September to December), you will see thousands of birds and their young in their annual nesting grounds with amazing interactions. It is here that guests will most appreciate the double-deck boat as they are able to peer into the birds' nests from above.
This region is home to African Rail, Coppery-tailed Coucal, Black Coucal, Red-chested Flufftail, African Crake, Black Crake, Chirping Cisticola, Luapula Cisticola, Purple Swamphen, Allen’s Gallinule to name but a few. The open waters attract African Skimmer, Saddle-billed Stork, Yellow-billed Stork, Intermediate Egret, Goliath Heron, African Fish Eagle as well as the globally threatened Slaty Egret and Wattled Crane.
Day 6 Maun Airport
You will be chartered from Splash Camp to Maun Airport (30 minutes), where you will check in for your flight back to Johannesburg International Airport.
