Muchenje Safari Lodge enjoys a unique position to the west of Botswana’s famed Chobe National Park, situated high on an escarpment edge with breath-taking views across the Chobe River and its floodplains and Namibia’s Caprivi Strip.
Accommodation at Muchenje Safari Lodge is offered in eleven newly refurbished thatched Safari bungalows, each beautifully appointed with its unique view of the Chobe River. Bathrooms have showers, toilets and his/her wash hand basins. The chalets have ceiling fans, wardrobes, electronic safes, writing tables and a private, shaded veranda. One of the chalets is able to accommodate families of four, with its double bed and full bathroom downstairs, and a loft area with two single beds upstairs. This chalet could be used for a group of four friends travelling together. Central camp amenities include a lounge, dining and bar area, literally wrapped around the escarpment edge, with a swimming pool and extensive viewing decks close by. Due to Muchenje Safari Lodge’s situation, it means that it is away from the activity of Kasane town and lodges, so its guests are able to experience drive in rarely visited sections of the Park. As it lies within the Chobe Forest Reserve, both game walks and night drives are offered too – something unique in this region. The Camp offers a full day activity which includes a water safari along with packed picnic lunch, something not to be missed! Chobe National Park offers some of the world's best game viewing – it’s famous for its large elephant and buffalo herds, along with all the predators, including leopard, lion and wild dog. There is a great diversity of plains game and an astonishing array of bird species. Game drives in open 4x4 safari vehicles are hosted by professional guides, either early morning, afternoon, or for a full day. Game viewing by boat on the Chobe River offers the best means of watching the elephant herds, plus many mammals, as they come to drink at the water’s edge. Bush walks here enable you to hear more about the nuances of your environment - the spoor, trees, plants and insects that make for such wonderment around you. Night game drives take place in the lodge’s own concession. Your guide uses a spotlight to show pick up creatures both large and small. You may visit a local village for a cultural experience and to meet the people that make Botswana the delightful country that it is. |
