Camp Okavango is set on Nxaragha Island, in the permanent Okavango Delta, thus assuring its guests of a year-round water experience, yet the area also enjoys diverse habitats, which supports wide varieties of animals, with the chance of spotting some of the big cats, elephant, buffalo, hippo and a variety of antelope species.
Accommodating just 24 guests, Camp Okavango offers 11 suites and 1 family suite (two bedrooms). All of the accommodation is set on raised wooden decks, and enjoys private en-suite facilities, along with a private sun-deck. Suites are spacious and luxurious, fitted with dressing tables, bedside pedestals and wardrobes. Fans are available in all suites, along with a small safe, hairdryer, and tea/ coffee making facilities. The main guest areas include a dining room with an open-air patio, a cocktail bar, a lounge, a wildlife library, a new camp fire set on a large deck which overlooks the floodplains. You can also enjoy the use of a swimming pool, set on its own large deck, with convenient access from the main Lodge area. A viewing deck is also available, set away from the central area, and allowing excellent views. Due to its location in the heart of the Okavango Delta, Camp Okavango offers a range of activities focused on exploring the uniqueness of the Okavango Delta waterways and surrounding islands. Guided excursions through the deeper channels and lagoons of the Okavango Delta in hard-bottom aluminium boats. The boats are equipped with comfortable seats, a foldaway canvas roof and life jackets. Guided mokoro excursions in traditional dug-out canoes through the shallower channels and floodplains of the Okavango Delta are an excellent way to enjoy the area. Bush walks on the surrounding islands allow you to track the larger species that inhabit this watery wilderness. Guided walks are conducted in small groups with two guides. Optional fishing excursions are available (tiger, African pike and bream) on a seasonal basis, and all fishing equipment is available at the lodge. Scenic helicopter flights over the Delta are also available from Camp Okavango at an additional charge. Camp Okavango accepts children from 6 years and older. |
