Stanley’s Camp is a luxury tented camp, in a private concession overlooking the Okavango floodplains. The area around the camp enjoys a variety of changes with the seasons - from lush vegetation in the green season (November to March), to the dry savannah of the winter months when the Kalahari shows its face.
There are just 8 tents in this beautifully situated Camp, and there are set around a large sitting and dining area which affords wonderful views. Each tent at Stanley's is individual designed, but has the added bonus of a ceiling fan. The tents are elegant, offer a level of luxury and add to the modern flavour of the camp. Each tent has a large wooden deck, which provides a lovely area in which to relax - whether in a comfortable chair or your hammock. You might choose to relax at the sparkling swimming pool, and watch the local wildlife go by..... An advantage at Stanley’s Camp is that it is in a private concession, allowing you the opportunity to venture out at night on game drives to see the many nocturnally active animals. Evening drives start after sundowners , and using a spotlight, picks out numerous spectral eyes. Game drives are not always typical here, as water crossings are part of the adventure! As the Okavango is flooded for much of the year, you can also experience the area in the serene silence afforded by travelling in a mokoro. Enjoy an excursion along the narrow waterways. Sit back and relax as you glide through lily ponds, whilst watching out for fish eagles, frogs and tiny kingfishers. Mokoro excursions are subject to water level fluctuations. Enjoy a guided walk - an excellent way in which to experience the bush. Lion, leopard, elephant, genet and even millipedes are all part of the landscape, and each has a story to tell. Stanley’s Camp also offers you a unique Elephant Interaction. Three orphaned elephants have been brought up in the area and have become used to being near humans. Every morning the elephants go for a walk around their home range, foraging for food. They look for fresh fruit in the nearby trees and interact with guests. Each day, a few guests are able to accompany them on their walk through the bush - a truly fascinating experience! This activity includes a leisurely paced walk with the elephants, and a picnic lunch in their company. You might also want to indulge in a scenic Helicopter flight – taking you west of the game drive routes towards the permanent waters of the Okavango. You also have the option of the doors being removed for unrestricted photographic opportunities. Enjoy a 30, 45 or 60 minute scenic tour of the Okavango Delta in a turbine Bell Jetranger helicopter with 4 seats. The Elephant Interaction and Helicopter flight at offered at additional cost. |
