Day 1 Johannesburg/ Northern Chobe
From Johannesburg International Airport, you will fly to Kasane Airport in Botswana. Here you will clear customs and collect your luggage, where after a representative of Wildtrack Safaris Lodge will meet you and road transfer you to the Lodge, approximately 112km drive away.
Wildtrack Safaris Lodge lies in the Chobe region of Botswana, near the local village of Pandamatenga, close to the Zimbabwean border of the Hwange National Park. It is an exclusive lodge that offers more than just a bush safari. It’s uniquely situated in the centre of the newly-formed Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area — the largest of its kind in the world.
Days 2 and 3 Chobe region
Here, in open grasslands and savannahs, lion, large groups of zebra, eland, and blue wildebeest amongst many other species, find their home. Here too are one of the last populations of wild dog, along with huge concentrations of elephants.
Activities at Wildtrack Safaris Eco Lodge include:
• Game drives both early morning and late afternoon, tracking abundant lions, spotted hyena, giraffe, elephant and wild dog, to name a few.
• Night drives & bush dinners allowing guests to spot lion, leopard, hyena and other night time hunters, ending with a bush dinner.
• Guided walks with an experienced guide will show you the smaller creatures and some of the 380 species of birds in the area
• Cultural tours to nearby Pandamatenga Village where you may meet Chief Kgosi, visit the local school or assist the local Tswana community in various initiatives.
Because you are spending 4 nights here, we have included a Full Day Chobe River trip too:
Collection time at Wildtrack Safaris Eco Lodge will be 07:30 – 08:30 (time to be confirmed upon booking). Guests will then be transferred to their first activity – transfer to Kasane is approximately 45 minutes.
The first activity is a boat cruise scheduled to depart at +/- 09h30, boarding a vessel and then traversing along the Chobe River into the Chobe National Park. There is no stretch of river in the world that has a larger and more varied abundance of wildlife than this part of the Chobe River. After the boat cruise you will board a floating restaurant for lunch, where guests can enjoy traditional cuisine while still being surrounded by the natural beauty of the Chobe.
The afternoon game drive is scheduled to depart at 13h30, which allows an hour for lunch. After a quick boat transfer to the Park Entrance gate, guests will be collected in open game drive vehicles. The game drive will cover less than 1% of the 11700 square kilometres that makes up the Chobe National Park. The Land activity takes you further into the Park where a variety of different species can be found.
At around 16:00 / 16:30 vehicles will make their way out of the national park towards Kasane, with an estimated arrival time of about 18:00. The first activity is usually a boat cruise however if guests specifically request it, a game drive can be arranged. If guests were on a boat cruise in the morning they would be scheduled for a game drive in the afternoon and vice versa.
Day 4 Linyanti
After breakfast, a lodge representative will transfer you back to Kasane Airport where you will board a charter flight to the Linyanti airstrip, across the Chobe National Park, an hour away.
Linyanti Bush Camp is set on overlooking the Linyanti marshes, in a private concession which borders on the western edge of the Chobe enclave. The camp is therefore away from the main tourist routes.
Linyanti Bush Camp is a small and intimate property, accommodating only 12 guests, in well appointed tented accommodation, with en suite facilities. The bathroom sections have been upgraded and are now separated by a door from the bedroom area. All bathrooms now boast an option indoor/ outdoor feature, with views over the marsh.
Days 5 and 6 Linyanti
You get to explore the area on morning and afternoon game drives, as well as night drives, with spotlight, allowing you to see the nocturnally active species. In addition, there are guided walks, adding to the authentic safari experience that is part of the Linyanti Bush Camp experience.
The area is best known for its large populations of Elephant and buffalo that congregate in vast numbers especially during the dry season. As this is a diverse area, lion, sable, roan, leopard, wild dog, and a number of the plains game can be enjoyed. The rare and elusive sitatunga antelope, red lechwe, hippo and crocodile can be found in the
surrounding marshes.
The Linyanti Swamps are one of the most attractive areas in the park and as it is the only source of water in the dry months, there are excellent concentrations of wildlife. The area's relative remoteness makes it a favoured wild safari destination and one of the most well sort after areas in Northern Botswana.
Day 7 Okavango Delta
After a morning activity you will be chartered to Kadizora Camp in the Okavango Delta, 30 minutes away. Set on the grassy wetlands of the remote Okavango, Kadizora Camp lies in a game-rich private concession. Such a location gives guests the opportunity to enjoy guided walking safaris as well as game viewing by 4X4. It’s also a place to sit back in a mokoro, the local canoe, and let the Okavango float by.
Days 8 and 9 Okavango Delta
Activities at Kadizora Camp include morning mekoro trips (dugout canoes) with island walks, and afternoon game drives. Fishing is offered on request and in season. Boat activities are also offered between April and October. There is the option to arrange a day trip to a traditional village. Visit the church, the clinic, local Primary school and meet family members of the camp staff.
A permanent life giving swamp, the Okavango Delta rises in the Angolan Highlands, and enters Botswana below Namibia’s Caprivi Strip region. It was once a part of Lake Makgadikgadi, but is now home to over 200 000 large mammals, many of which migrate during the summer rains and return during the cooler and dryer winter months.
This part of the Okavango Delta is home to mammals such as: lions, cheetahs, leopards, wild dog, elephants, buffalo, hippo, giraffe, hyena, zebra, kudu, impala and many more! This aquatic region is also home to various bird, insect, fish and plant species - making it a safari paradise.
This is the only area in the Okavango Delta to offer hot air ballooning (seasonally available).
Your Hot Air Balloon Safari begins with an early morning departure from Kadizora Camp, driving through the floodplains to the balloon launch site. On this pre-dawn safari, you may be fortunate enough to see sightings of nocturnal wildlife. On arrival at the launch site, you will be served tea or coffee, while the balloon is being rigged and inflated ready for your flight.
After a welcome greeting by the pilot, you are ready for take-off. As the balloon is fired up, drift away across the flood plains, watch the sunrise and the animals waking to begin their day. Upon landing, celebrate your flight with champagne and snacks and receive your first flight certificate from the pilot before heading back to camp. Hot air ballooning is available on request during the peak season for April – September at an additional cost.
Day 10 Maun Airport
