Chobe Chilwero Lodge borders the Chobe National Park, in Northern Botswana, just 10 minutes by road to Kasane Airport, and 1.5 hours drive from Victoria Falls. The Lodge is situated on a hill overlooking the Park, set amongst dense bush. Chilwero literally means: ‘place of high view’, and certainly lives up to this name, with views across the Chobe floodplains and beyond into Namibia.
This luxurious Botswana lodge has fifteen guest cottages, each with an inside and outdoor shower, free-standing bath tubs, a private garden and every comfort you can dream of. The cottages measure 61 square metres in extent. Each luxury cottage has mosquito nets, ceiling fans and air-conditioning. The main guest areas include a split-level swimming pool, an extensive Spa, lounge and dining areas, all overlooking the Chobe River in the distance. Meals are carefully prepared by the resident chef and wines served are of a high quality. Chobe National Park is home to the world's largest remaining population of elephants. During the dry season, huge herds of buffalo congregate here too, making it a ‘must-see’ destination. Game drives in open-sided 4x4 vehicles; lead by professional guides will allow you to encounter a variety of game, including hippos, buffalos, puku, antelope, lions and other creatures that gather on the banks of the Chobe River. Predator sightings are common. The best way to end a day of safari is to sip a cocktail whilst viewing an African sunset from the water. Specially designed riverboats take guests up close to elephants as they wade in the river or near to the buffalo which gather on its shores. Sundowner cruises are also a great way of seeing animals up close as they come out of the shade to graze in the cooler evenings. Chobe is renowned for its abundance of elephants and dramatic sable and roan antelopes with their impressive horns. Sitatunga – antelope with splayed feet to help them run in swamps – are often seen here, as are the wild dog and lion that prey upon them. For those guests wishing to see Victoria Falls, day trips can be arranged at an additional cost. If fishing is something you’d like to try, trips to catch bream and tiger fish (on a catch and release basis) can also be arranged. |
