Okuti overlooks the beautiful Xakanaxa Lagoon, and is one of few Safari Camps that is actually withing the borders of the Moremi Game Reserve itself. This area of Botswana is known for excellent game viewing, along with diverse and beautiful scenery.
Okuti Camp is on the Maunachira River, which flows through the Xakanaxa Lagoon. As such it is also on the edge of the Okavango Delta, and is able to offer activities that are land and water-based. This is a small Safari Camp, which prides itself on personalised service, as it only accommodates 18 guests, in unique, and custom designed units. All of the accommodation is en suite, with hot and cold running water and flush toilets. 5 of the units at Okuti have been designed for use by 2 guests each, and a further 2 units are for use by families. Each of the family units has 2 rooms, which share a bathroom. Okuti accepts children from the age of 7 years and onwards year round (in low season you can request accommodation for younger children to be accepted) as the nature of the activities are safe for children - namely game drives and boating. Guests enjoy game drives in the Moremi Game Reserve in specially designed safari vehicles, allowing excellent views for game viewing and photography. The Moremi Reserve, particularly in this area, is surprisingly diverse, and is thus rich in wildlife, with game viewing being consistently good through out the year. You can also choose to explore the Okavango's waterways by motorboat - from open lagoons to winding channels it is a birder's paradise, and particularly good for the sightings of herons and storks in the breeding season (generally November to March).Okuti also offers seasonal boat excursions to the famous Gadikwe Heronry. Okuti Camp also accommodates clients wishing to self-drive (in 4WD) into Moremi Game Reserve, offering an adventure and an alternative to charter flights. |
