Chobe Princess 2 and 3 (ex Ichobezi Houseboats)
Ichobezi offers two houseboats or safari boats, which cruise the Zambezi and Chobe Rivers in eastern Caprivi Strip, Namibia. The boats have recently been renamed Chobe Princess 2 and Chobe Princess 3 Access to both boats is via Kasane Immigration in Kasane, far northern Botswana.
The Ichobezi Moli/ Chobe Princess 2 is an 18 metre long boat with four large cabins, each with large sliding windows offering spectacular views of the forever-changing Chobe scenery. Each cabin has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, toilet and hand basin.
The Ichobezi Moli's top deck has a lounge and bar area with comfortable seating and a shade cover together with an open area where meals are enjoyed. There is also a small plunge pool on the top deck.
The Ichobezi Mukwae/ Chobe Princess 3 is a newer boat, but built almost identically to the Moli, the only difference being that the Mukwae’s front cabin has its own private balcony. The Mukwae also has another deck above the main top deck,
offering spectacular vistas.
In order to prevent mosquitoes from entering the cabins, each window is spanned by a transparent mosquito screen. Electricity (220V and 12V) is supplied to each cabin, ensuring the use of electric shavers, dryers and lights. Spacious cupboards with shelves and hanging space are provided in each bedroom. Each houseboat has dedicated tender boats, which are small motor boats used for game and leisure activities.
Both the Chobe Princess 2 and Chobe Princess 3 offer guests the opportunity to explore the waterways of the Chobe National Park, game-viewing, bird-watching, fishing, and simply relaxing in a beautiful region of abundant
wildlife.
The house boats have no set departure dates, and no minimum length stays, thus enabling guests to spend as little or as much time aboard as they wish.
Game viewing by boat into the Chobe National Park offers the remarkable opportunity of witnessing the huge herds of elephants drinking at the water’s edge. Buffalo, giraffe, leopard, lion, kudu, waterbuck, puku, lechwe, impala, and baboons are all in attendance, ensuring a wildlife experience of unparalleled proportions.
Bird watching is a year round activity here, with over 400 species recorded. A combination of water and woodland birds occur, with the summer migrants present between September and March.
For the fishing enthusiast, it is here where Tigerfish occur, with other species like Tilapia, Largemouth Bream, Catfish and Squeakers all present. Tiger fishing is generally best during summer from September until February, although June is another good month. Both fly and conventional fishing is offered.
Excursions in Mokoros (dugout canoes) are offered and this activity is a must for keen birders. Walks on Impalila Island and on the Namibian mainland can be arranged, and will offer you the chance to study the ecology of the region, and also to visit some of the villages, giving you an insight into traditional life.
Sunset cruises on board the small tender boats will ensure that you are witness to the incredible and memorable Chobe sunsets.
