Sandibe Safari Lodge

Sandibe Safari Lodge is situated close to the permanent channels of the Okavango Delta in a private 8000 hectare concession, bordering the south-eastern section of the Moremi Game Reserve.  This part of the Delta is renowned for its lush waterways and abundant wildlife.  Predators from the adjacent Moremi Reserve, renowned for its excellent wildlife sightings, often cross into the Sandibe concession.

Built under wild palms and fig trees are eight unique cottages, set on the edge of the waterways.  Each has an en-suite bathroom, outdoor shower and dressing area.  The windows of the cottages are covered in gauze.  Quite unique are the raised elevated viewing decks which each cottage has – perfect for viewing but also for romantic candlelit dinners.

The main areas of the lodge house the dining room, the boma, the swimming pool and relaxing couches in the sitting area.

The highly experienced guides and trackers at Sandibe will fill your days with game drives, bush walks and mokoro excursions. Twice daily game drives will allow you to explore the rich wildlife surrounding Sandibe on
early morning and late afternoon / evening game drives in an open air safari vehicle.  During the drives you will pass through floodplains, seasonal grassland, woodland, shrub land and savanna.

The bush walks offer a leisurely way of taking in the sights, and sounds of the Delta.  Your armed guard will explain the smaller nuances of nature, keeping an eye alert for game and birds as you go.

The mokoro outings meander through the Okavango waterways, exploring the channels, spotting aquatic antelope, hippo and birds on the way.Fishing is possible at Sandibe usually from March until December each year.

Wildlife encounters will include many predators, as well as the red lechwe and  the shy sitatunga. Lion prides, cheetah, leopard and African wild dog may be seen, whilst elephant and buffalo, roan and sable antelope roam the open woodlands.  Leopards are fairly common and if you are fortunate, the endangered African wild dog may be spotted.
