Hyena Pan Tented Camp is sent in the private Khwai Reserve, which borders the beautiful Moremi National Park, with the Khwai River in the South and the Chobe National Park to the East.
The camp is positioned 12km’s north of the Khwai River, within extensive Mopane forest overlooking a natural Pan. The pan acts as a constant water supply to the many species of birds and animals that frequent the area, and the rains (December to March) flood the area creating an enormous water feature which encouraging Hippo, Elephant and Buffalo. Accommodation at Hyena Pan Tented Camp is in 8 en-suite tents, which offer simple comfort. Each is furnished with twin beds, solar generated power and private facilities including gas generated showers. There is an international charging station within each tent for camera’s and batteries. The camp is almost entirely generated by solar with the only exception being the gas showers. The main Camp area includes a spacious dining room, and two lounge areas with sun deck. In addition there is a small reference library, and Curio shop. Meals can be enjoyed in the open-air Boma which overlooks the water-hole (which is flood-lit at night); and you can relax at the rim-flow splash pool on deck. Activities at Hyena Pan Camp are varied, as you can enjoy game drives (morning and afternoon), either within the extensive private concession, or along the Khwai River. You might also wish to enjoy a full day trip, complete with packed lunches, into the Moremi to further explore this wonderful Reserve. Predators are seen on a regular basis, on the game drives along the Khwai River, and include lion, leopard and wild dog. A number of other species are also in the area, such as kudu, waterbuck, red lechwe, eland, impala, roan, buffalo, water hog and many more. Hyena Pan Tented Camp boasts 2 hides, each at ground level, with hidden view points, positioned facing private and special waterholes within the private concession. Spectacular photographic opportunities are available to the keen photographer. A special feature of this private concession is the ability to enjoy game walks - relaxed and informative, these are an excellent way to enjoy the area. These are by prior arrangement. There is no phone signal and no wi-fi facilities in Camp. Children are welcome although if they under 12yrs they will share with an adult or older sibling. |
