The enhanced Abu elephant programme focuses on the full elephant conservation experience, and offers guests and families the unique opportunity to spend time with members of the Abu Herd, walking with them through the bush, observing them up close in the wild and getting to know their individual characters, whilst learning more about the importance of conservation from local guides and researchers.
Abu received worldwide recognition for its innovative work with orphaned and rejected elephants who have come together to form the Abu Herd. This combination of personalities, from matriarch Cathy to naughty youngest, Naledi, forms the heart of the interactive elephant experience, where guests meet, walk and intermingle with the animals. Abu remains committed to being a place that first and foremost concentrates on the broader and more meaningful element of elephant conservation and involves its guests in these efforts.
